Content Management

What is Content Management?

Content management is a process used to keep the information in your MapsAlive tours up to date.

In MapsAlive, content can be one or both of the following:

  • Text and images that people see when using an interactive map
  • Interactive map behavior such as what happens when a user clicks a marker

You put content into MapsAlive, and maintain it, by following a content management process.

Three ways to manage content

MapsAlive allows you to input and update your tour's content in three different ways:

Choosing a Content Management Process

Manual data entry is a good choice when your tour does not have a large amount of data or if the data does not change often. Consider file import or remote import when you have too much data to enter manually.

If the content in your tour is constantly changing, consider using the MapsAlive Live Data feature. With Live Data, your tour can display up-to-the-minute information. You can use Live Data in conjunction with the three techniques mentioned above. For example, you can use Live Data only for hotspots that show constantly changing information, while maintaining content for the other hotspots using one of the other techniques.

When you need to replace one or more properties for all the hotspots in your tour, you can perform a global replace.
